Andreas Renner of BRAVO and Hollywood-star Orlando Bloom had lots of fun at the interview.
BRAVO: Did you like pirates already as a child?
ORLANDO: I loved pirate -movies. During the shooting of The Curse of the Black Pearl, there were times I felt in an adventure-park . We did a lot of scenes on an old ship on the high seas and it was a blast! I had especially a great time with Johnny Depp. It was like my childhood dreams.
B: Didn’t you get sea-sick?
O: No. Luckily I didn’t. But some others did, and they literally hang over the railing.
B: How were your fencing scenes with Johnny Depp?
O: Quite taxing! But in spite of a couple of scratches, nothing happened. After the many fencing-scenes in The Lord of The Rings and now in The Curse of the Black Pearl, I am a real pro with the sword. I should maybe enter for the Olympics … (laughs)
B: The sequel to The Curse of the Black Pearl is planned. Will you be in it as well?
O: I will be there as well, no matter what. It was just too much fun. I would surely love to play in a comedy, but I am quite content with the offers I get currently. Three years ago I was still at the acting-school and didn’t know if I would ever make a movie – and now I am filming with people like Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt. I have no reason to complain.
B: The third installment of Lord of The Rings is done. Are you sad that it is over?
O: Very much so. After all, I spent three years with the team, we became really good friends. Especially with Elijah Wood and Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn. I also had a blast of a time with the other elves in New Zealand. But it isn’t all over, in December there is still the Premiere of the third part in Berlin.
B: Nine actors from The Lord of the Rings got together a tattoo, the elvish nine. Are there any more tattoos planned?
O: No, I don’t think I’ll ever get another. Two are enough.
B: What is your other tattoo?
O: A sun next to my navel. I had it made when I was 15. I went spontaneously with a mate to a tattoo parlor, a crazy idea. Today I wouldn’t get a tattoo again.
B: Does your girlfriend, actress Kate Bosworth, like your tattoos?
O: She thinks they are cool, but isn’t crazy about them.
B: How long have you been together?
O: I do not talk about it, because it’s the last shred of private life I got left.
B: For example surfing? Kate played the main role in the surfer-movie “Blue Crush”. Is she better than you on the waves?
O: She is even very much better! I just learned surfing during the filming of The Lord of the Rings in New- Zealand. But at the moment I am not practicing any sports. I used to be much more active and I tried every extreme sport I could – the wilder, the better.
B: For example …?
O: Sky-diving, bungee, hang-gliding and snowboarding. All of them, even.
B: So you broke almost every bone in your body?
O: (Laughing) Oh yes, I used to be a real daredevil. But I didn’t get hurt only at sports. Once I fell from a ’friend’s terrace and I broke my spine. I wasn’t drunk, but I slipped unluckily and fell two stories down. Doctors thought I would be paralyzed for the rest of my life. But after the operation all went well, thank God!
B: Is it true that you have difficulties reading and writing?
O: Yes, it is true. I am dyslexic and have some difficulty to recognizing some letters. But it doesn’t mean I am dumb. I had my school degree and went to acting school. So, please don’t laugh over classmates that have problems with reading! Maybe they will become later movie-stars and you will like to have tickets for the premiere ….
