New TTT DVD commercial featuring Legolas
posted by Jas
Max reports: Jas, I just saw the greatest commercial of all time right after West Wing. It was for a Mitsubishi SUV, I believe. This brother and sister are watching The Two Towers, and the girl drifts off into space, dreaming of all these pictures of Legolas, and her wearing an Elven Princess outfit. Suddenly the brother cuts in and says "Do you Mind?" And un-pauses the DVD, which just happens to be zoomed in on Leggy's face. I laughed my @$$ off. Looks like the rabid fangirls of the world are finally getting the credit they deserve! Also there's a Duracell Battery commercial after Ed that said LOTR camera crews used their batteries to do light testing. There's also the shot from TTT where Aragorn and Legolas are looking out over Rohan. Check it out.

Director Eli Roth hangs out with Peter and Co.
BBC Films
I was so nervous about meeting Peter. I mean, that guy's been one of my idols since I first saw "Bad Taste" in film school, but as soon as I met him I relaxed right away. He's such an unbelievably cool guy, and Fran Walsh was an absolute sweetheart.

Directors get last word with codas
Reuters
They're called "codas." You've all seen them: They're little tagged-on endings at the end of movies, minuscule scenes that come up after all the credits have run their course. The reward in "Pirates?" Moviegoers get to see villain Geoffrey Rush's mascot monkey swim to the chest of the cursed gold, take a gold coin out of the chest and then turn instantly into an undead monkey in skeletal form. In "Pirates," the coda was developed to answer a lingering questioning the movie left unanswered -- what happened to the monkey? "It was really an unresolved story issue that could only be resolved after the story itself," Rossio said. "You can commit a lot of mayhem in movies, but you'd be surprised how people react to the animals."

AshNbird reports: At Target, they have LOTR puzzles. They are in collectable tins with four variations. I think they are around $12 each. Only two include Legolas, but all of them are so cool! I'll send a scan, of the one I purchased, later this week ;-)

LOTR costumes at Walmart
posted by Jas
AshNbird reports:I just came home from a local Wal-Mart and they had recently put out all their Halloween stuff. I browsed through all the awesome costumes and found a couple of LOTR ones. Of what I saw, there was a Legolas and a Gandalf. They were about $25 each. I believe the Legolas comes with a wig and I saw a hat with the Gandalf one. These costumes are awesome for only being $25! And if you don't do Halloween, you can always dress up for the opening day of the LOTR films. True fan material! ;-)
