Fiona wrote: Got some news that, BBC 1 (UK) will be showing Orlando's episode of Casualty this coming Saturday Feb 15 and it's on at 8.40pm On the Daily Mail's Night and Day tv guide it says: 8.40pm Casualty. Part one. Comfort uncovers a family secret, Colettefinds out that she is pregnant, and Duffy decides to get on with her life instead of obsessing over Ryan's disappearance. The Lord of the Rings actor Orlando Bloom guest stars. Update: Elvie wrote in to say that there's a possibility that the Daily Mail has mistaken Orlando Bloom with Orlando Seale, a regular Casualty cast member in 2002 episodes. Orlando made his appearance in 1996 and the one listed on Daily Mail TV Guide are episodes from 2002.

Lord of the Rings: Snubbed by Oscar?
posted by Stacie
"It's always interesting when a best picture nominee doesn't get a best
director nomination," Maltin says, "and that's what happened to The Lord of
the Rings: The Two Towers. Peter Jackson was shut out of the best director
category because they decided to honor Pedro Almodovar -- whose film Talk to
Her doesn't qualify for best foreign film, because Spain decided not to
submit it. So this is the Academy's way of honoring him. And I'm glad they
did that, but it's too bad for Peter Jackson. Lord of the Rings is a towering
achievement -- no pun intended."
While McDonagh doesn't feel Rings rates such high praise, she thinks Andy
Serkis -- who played creepy Gollum -- should've snagged "the Precious." Or,
at least, a best supporting actor nod. "He was pretty impressive," she
enthuses. "The character was computer generated, but it was rotoscoped over
his acting. I guess when actors nominate other actors, they want to see you
acting. I think they're afraid that if they're replaced by special effects,
who's gonna need these expensive, demanding, pain-in-the-behind actors then?"
