WHO IS ORLANDO BLOOM?

This boy who played the role of Legolas in the trilogy of “The Lord of the Rings” and now stars in “Pirates of the Caribbean” with Johnny Depp , Orlando is on flying course to stardom, so don’t loose sight of this Super-hunk

If you want to spend a good time in the theater, check out Pirates of the Caribbean. This flick is full of adventures, good FX and very good humor. But above all, you’ll see hunk Orlando Bloom who talked to “TU” in Los Angeles California about his new movie and much more.

Among other topics, Orlando told us that he was born in Canterbury, England. At age 16 he moved with his family to London. There he studies in the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama and in the British American Drama Academy; after he finished his study he worked a while in theater and finally got the opportunity of playing the character of Legolas in “The Lord of the Rings”, after that “Black Hawk Down” and currently he is filming “Troy” with Brad Pitt.

TU: Yesterday in the theater women went wild as they saw the credits for your name on screen. Did you ever dream of being a Box Office hunk?
Orlando Bloom: Yes I heard them and I am very thrilled. But I must confess that I never considered myself a hunk, or that I choose my parts thinking of playing the hero. I rather decide what movie I am going to make depending on who is directing it and the quality of the script. I try to think if there is something I am going to learn with the role, beyond if the character is good or not. I love to make movies like “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “The Lord of the Rings” but also make some quite different stuff.

TU: This movie has a lot of action and sword fighting. Did you have any trouble with it?
O.B.: There are always small accidents in scenes of that kind. But since we had a great trainer for the fights and all was well rehearsed, there were only a couple of scratches, bumps and cuts, nothing important.

TU: Working in a great success like “The Lord of the Rings” has changed your daily life?
O.B.: Not really, since in that movie I used a blonde wig and blue contact lenses no one recognizes me. I go out on the street quite at ease that no one knows who I am. I was, nevertheless, shocked by the success of the film and that so many people all over the world know my name. Maybe with “Pirates of the Caribbean” things change and girls start chasing after me on the street. I just hope to handle things calmly and be able to continue with this work that I adore.

TU: Not long ago a magazine published that you became an actor because you get to kiss the girl, is that true?
O.B.: Of course it isn’t true. Those are the things I don’t like about fame, anybody can make up whatever about you and publish it. In fact, I’d like to kill the publication that made that up, I swear I never said it. Obviously, kissing a girl is fabulous and I don’t complain (OB laughs). But I would never take a job just so that I can touch the actress, it would be insane.

TU: When did you decide to become an actor?
O.B.: It was my dream since I was a child; I remember I watched incredible characters on TV and in the movies. The day I found out that there people being paid for doing that was when I decided it would be the perfect profession. Being an actor would give me the chance to play all these fabulous characters, I cannot imagine anything better.

TU: Your character in “Pirates of the Caribbean” is very romantic. Are you like that in real life?
O.B.: I'm afraid I am neither heroic nor romantic (laughs again). I know my fans will be disappointed but I am not the kind of guy who has thousands of nice details with his girlfriend. Still, I consider myself a gentleman and girls do not complain about my manners. (laughs)

TU: What do you do when you return home?
O.B.: I haven’t been home for a long time, because I live for my work, but I think that after finishing Troy I will take a break. Actually, when I go home it is as if all my work disappears, I go out with friends and try to share as much time as I can with my family, because when you are away for this long you miss a lot of things.
