Orlando mentioned in today's Sunday Express
posted by Penny
Penny reports that Orlando was mentioned in an article entitled 'Next Stop Hollywood', by Henry Fitzherbert, in today's Sunday Express. She has typed up the relevant parts:
"Say 'Ahoy' to Britain's new A-list. Next week, Pirates of the Caribbean launches across the UK, crowning young actors Orlando Bloom & Keira Knightley as bona fide movie stars. Like a raft of other British performers Bloom, 26, & Knightley, 20, are fast becoming household names, both here & in America. Next up for Bloom, who plays Legolas in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is ancient history epic Troy, alongside Brad Pitt & Eric Bana. Then he starts work on Elizabethtown, a romantic drama with Kirsten Dunst, written & directed by Cameron Crowe. ...says Will Davies of the top UK casting agency Gail Stevens. "Orlando Bloom spent 18 months learning film acting on Lord of the Rings. It was a brilliant opportunity & now he's on a roll." Today's emerging stars are savvier, guided by astute agents who realise a career can be transformed by a Hollywood blockbuster. Says Bloom of Pirates: "I just wasn't in the head space to think about doing a big American blockbuster & then it was put to me in a different way, which was that if I opened a door like this, it will ultimately put me in a marketplace where I can get projects made that I want to get made." (Note: there is no official word that Orlando will do Elizabethtown, it's still a rumour. Variety has confirmed that Jane Fonda has joined the cast.)
Keira's heartie-throb
Sunday Mirror
Orlando recently said of Keira: "She's got a boyfriend, damn it! She's in love with him. He was around the set the whole time, and I couldn't compete. I was heartbroken."

Alanna reports: In the September issue of Teen People in the star woes section Kiera Knightley had a comment about POTC:
"We've got a monkey in Pirates, and he kind of freaked me out. We were doing one scene, and he got really excited. He jumped on my head, and I sort of behaved like a complete girl in front of the cast and crew. Imagine getting that scared of a monkey in front of Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom."

Jackson takes time out from Middle-earth
Stuff Entertainment
Peter Jackson may have had enough of filming hobbits and elves as he completes the final Lord of the Rings instalment but, like any good Kiwi dad, he's happy to pick up a handycam to film his son playing rugby. It was precious time out for the fiercely protective father as he scrambles to complete The Return of the King for its December 1 world premiere in Wellington - and even he does not know when the film will be finished. "We're shooting, we're cutting, the visual effects still have a long way to go before they are done, we haven't started recording the music yet - so for me there may be light at the end of the tunnel, but the premiere in December still seems a long, long way away from where I am at the moment," he told the Lord of the Rings' official fan magazine.
