Time Warner introduced iCONTROL, a video-on-demand (VOD) service that provides digital customers with instant access to 120 movies. Subscribers will be able to watch such fare as "Lord of the Rings," "A Beautiful Mind" and "Blackhawk Down" without leaving their homes.

Before playing Eowyn in December's Two Towers -- the second Lord of the Rings film -- Miranda Otto (What Lies Beneath) took a crash course in J.R.R. Tolkien. ''I cut out every line of dialogue eowyn spoke and looked at everything that was said about her,'' says the Aussie native, 34, whose human character falls for Viggo Mortensen's Aragorn. How do humans compare with hobbits? ''They're perhaps more tempted and flawed than other races.'' Besides the trilogy, Otto studied dialects, horse riding, and swordplay. ''It was like Swiss finishing school,'' she says. ''The sword fighting was great fun, but I realized if I lost concentration I could lose an eye.''

The core set of 72 trading cards in Topps' "'Fellowship of the Ring' Collector's Update Edition" summarizes the plot and creation of Peter Jackson's epic motion picture. Assembling a complete batch is fairly easy. Our box of 36 7-card packs yielded two full sets, plus loads of duplicates for trading. Do note, however, that the "C.U.E." also includes a unique bonus: randomly-inserted "Memorabilia Insert Cards" featuring material used to make the costumes seen in the film.
