Variety reports that AOL will premiere an exclusive scene today from corporate cousin New Line's upcoming feature The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. The sneak peek, at 6 a.m. Pacific time, is part of AOL's First Look movie offerings. The scene will feature stars Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom and John Rhys-Davies riding across the plains of Rohan to catch up with the creatures that have kidnapped two of their party. Elijah Wood in Flaming Lips movie

Flaming Lips have asked 'Lord of the Rings' star Elijah Wood to appear in their forthcoming movie about the first Christmas on Mars. As previously reported on NME.COM, vocalist Wayne Coyne is developing his first film, while taking time out from promoting the band's new album 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots'. Wood told The Face magazine that he is also planning on taking a part. He said: "I went to see them in LA and they asked if I'd like to be in the movie and I said 'YES!'. They were meant to be filming in November but they had to go on tour." In the film, Coyne wants to play a Martian, who people think is "this crazy guy who's green".

Rings set opens

The Hobbiton set used in the Lord of the Rings films is being opened to the public. A new venture allows tourists onto the set at the Alexander family farm near the Waikato town of Matamata. Tourism Waikato Chief Executive Lynda Keene says since Fellowship of the Ring was released there have been at least 10 inquiries a day about visiting the set. She says the venture opens up significant tourism prospects for the area. Visits will cost $50 for adults and $20 for children, with under tens free.

Before he got his first TV role, he was studying English Literature, Drama and Geography at Sixth Form College. The "Hetty Wainthropp…" show which he was offered the co-starring role in ran for four years.
