New Lord Of The Rings movie gets tougher rating

The new Lord Of The Rings film has been given a 12A certificate in the UK. The first film in the trilogy, The Fellowship Of The Ring, was given a PG certificate with a warning for children under the age of 8. The Two Towers has been passed with no cuts by the British Board Of Film Classification.

According to the BBFC's website the film will be 179 minutes long, just 50 seconds short of three hours. As with The Fellowship Of The Ring, the BBFC has issued a warning that the new film "contains intense combat and fantasy horror scenes". The Two Towers is released in the UK on December 18.

Lord Of The Rings star Elijah Wood has hit out at claims Frodo Baggins and Sam Gamgee have a gay relationship in the JRR Tolkien novel - he thinks they are just good friends. But the actor - who is a huge fan of Tolkien's epic adventure - admits he sees how the mistake could be made.

"Lord of the Rings" star John Rhys-Davies could use a bit of enchantment right about now. The actor, who plays the noble dwarf Gimli, is in a hospital in Croatia after a prop wall fell on him during a movie shoot. Rhys-Davies, who was filming "La Femme Musketeer," which co-stars Nastassja Kinski and Gerard Depardieu, suffered a broken arm and head injuries. All the same, he said from his hospital bed: "I'll be fine. I just need to rest." Ironically, Rhys-Davies, 58, told an interviewer just a few hours before: "When it comes to danger, I always insist on a stunt man. ... For me, that's the No. 1 rule of my acting life." Starring alongside Scott are Sean Bean, Frank Harper, Andrew Howard, Christian Solimeno, Neil Maskell, Charlie Dale, Daniella Denby-Ashe and Buster Bloodvessel, The Football Factory is shooting for five weeks in London and South Africa.

That Elijah Wood sure is a good son and brother. The Lord of the Rings star just went out and bought his mom and sister brand-new matching Mini Coopers. They'd both told him they loved the cute new BMW cars, so he surprised them both with a set of wheels.
