FOTR DVD launched in Sydney

The Lord of the Rings: FOTR (DVD): At a DVD launch last night in Sydney, it was confirmed that the 4-Disc edition (whose details have yet to be announced) will NOT include any of the same extras as those on the 2-Disc August version. Approximately 250,000 copies of the 'limited edition' leather bound versions of the 4-Disc set will be released in Oz in November. Meanwhile DVD Alliance reports that the upcoming French version of the 4-Disc set will include two DTS tracks - French 5.1 and English 6.1 ES, the 2-disc set in August won't have DTS. The irreverent MTV movie awards was the one ceremony Peter Jackson didn't have to dress up for - but despite The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring winning best film, the director wasn't in attendance. Instead, Jackson danced with his hobbit-costumed cast in a videotaped acceptance speech.

This in itself was a challenge to integrate and make Linux a viable platform for visual effects production, a platform for not only rendering visual effects, but also creating visual effects.
